Butterfly Brilliance - GDP #309 challenge

Welcome back to another blog post!

Today's card is for the Global Design Project GDP#309 which was a colour challenge.

So I have chosen Bumblebee as my colour to go with Basic Black and Whisper White and loved how it turned out.

What you will need:

Basic Black card base 21cm x 14.9cm scored at 10.5cm or 8½" x 5½" scored in half at 4¼"

- Bumblebee card layer 14.4cm x 10cm  or 5¼" x  4"

- Basic White card layer 13.9 x 9.5cm or 5"x  3 ¾ "  which I did emboss using the Tasteful Textiles embossing folder

I adhered each of the above layers using the tombow multipurpose glue.

To save on some card stock, I did cut out my butterfly from the same Bumblebee card layer before adhering the layers together as it would be covered with the basic white layer.

To do this, I used the largest detailed die from the Brilliant Wings Die set. I also added some wink of stellar on the butterfly just to give it some extra sparkle.

Next I cut out another butterfly detailed die using vellum (any of the smaller dies will work) which I ladhered on top of the Bumblebee butterfly just to give the butterfly some dimension. I used a yellow gem from the Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels to embellish the butterfly.

This bit is optional but I did want to add a bit more colour to the card. So I took some Bumblebee ink and used a blending brush to apply some colour to the bottom part of my basic white layer before adhering my sentiment on with some dimensions.

I found that Bumblebee inked background helped make the black sentiment piece pop more but you can skip this step as it would look just fine with the ink blending.

Now my sentiment piece was already from my sentiment stash that I have on hand which makes my card making quicker. However, if you want to create it I used the flag die from Tasteful Touch label dies on Basic Black card stock which I white embossed using "hello there" sentiment which is from the Sweet Strawberry stamps.

Another option step I did was just using my stamp and write marker I did some dot splatter on the card in Bumblebee. hmm... I think I have an issue with no white space on my cards. hahahaha

Just love how cheerful and bright this card turned out.
