Weeks 7 & 8 to Christmas - Frosted Gingerbread

Welcome back crafting friends. Apologies as I am behind with this series. With the restrictions being lifted my spare time is now spent driving the kids around and also catching up with family and friends.

Trying to sort out a new routine and new normal has been hectic to say the least.

So hoping that its ok that I combine weeks  7 & 8 in the one blog post and video. If it helps I actually have 2 projects for this post.

Watch my YouTube video HERE

What you will need for the CARD:
Note: I normally use the metric system however have used inches given we are working with 3" x 3" card today.

For our card base we will be using a 3" x 6" thick Basic white base (scored at 3") or 7.5cm x 7.5cm

* Basic White layer 2 7/8" x 2 7/8" or 7cm x 7cm which I embossed with the 3D Macrame embossing folder (I think any embossing folder would work here)

* Cherry Cobbler cardstock to cut out the outline dies from the Frosted Gingerbread bundle

* Basic White cardstock to cut out the matching detailed dies from the same Frosted Gingerbread dies.

To save time I did die cut all 3 shapes in the one go.

Firstly I adhered the detailed basic white die cut shape to its matching outline shape in the Cherry Cobbler.

I then attached this to the Macrame basic white layer before adhering that on to our card base. You can choose to either use Tombow or use dimensionals.

I then embellished with either a gold bow or a gem (depending on the shape) and this was how quickly the card came together. These make either cute little Christmas cards but also has gift tags as well.

So that is the card done but because I am combining 2 weeks I thought it would be good to show how you can turn this into a quick gift idea. Stampin' Up ® sell clear acetate boxes in the 3" x 3" size as well as the envelopes.

Alternatively you can also make your own gift box using Basic White thick cardstock.

First you will need 2 x Basic White thick cardstock at 4¼" x 4¼" (one as the base and one as the lid. The base has be able to fit the envelop which is of course bigger than 3" x 3" so I have allowed 3 ¼" x 3 ¼"  you will need 2 pieces of this as one forms the base and the other the lid for our box.

You will need to score each side at ½" and snip one edge of the flaps like so:

TI did use the Seal+ for this project as I wanted to make sure that I had strong adhesion so the box is able to hold up. So you want to fold in and glue each of the little small flaps so that it forms a box.

* The trick is that with one of the pieces you want to score it just that tiniest a bit smaller than the ½" I'm talking about a hair width. That way the lid snuggles into the box.

Really simple box to make and I definitely recommend you watch my YouTube video and see it in action.

I hope you guys enjoyed this project! Not long to Christmas now!
