Getting Inspiration from the Stampin' UP!® Annual Catalogue

Welcome back my crafting friends.

So being in Victoria (Australia), the last week has been depressing with the second lockdown being put in place. With a taste of some freedom, then to have that ripped away, this did leave me in a bit of a funk with coming up with ideas for cards.

So I decided to flip through the Stampin' UP!® catalogue for the 999th time, I thought I would take inspiration from one of their cards. Now, I recently come across the term CASE - Copy And Share Everything or Copy And Selectively Edit. Love this concept but I'm not sure if I would say that I CASE'd this card, given I did change up a bit and simplified it. Nevertheless, I did want to give credit to the picture in the catalogue. Can you guess which page its from?

So, this is the end result of my finished card.

You will need:

Stamps/Dies:

 - Prized Peony Stamp and Die bundle

- Ornate Layers Die

- Dandelion Wishes Stamp

Cardstock

 - Petal pink card base standard size (14.9cm x 10.5cm (metric) or 5 1/4" x 4" (Imperial)

- Whisper White cut using the ornate layers (refer picture below)

- Another piece of whisper white cardstock large enough for you to stamp the flower and leaves to be die cut out.

Ink

Petal pink

Pear pizzazz

Adhesives

Multipurpose Liquid Glue

Dimensionals

So with the Petal pink card base, I stamped the top left and bottom right hand corner with the pretty diamond pattern stamp from the Prized Peony stamp set in Petal pink ink like so:

I tend to like to get most of my stamping done first so then I can move them off my desk as I always seem to run out of desk space, no matter how much I keep upgrading to a bigger desk!

Next I stamped my peony (Petal pink) and leaves (Pear pizzazz) from the Prized Peony set. I stamped a couple of the leaves in 2nd generation to just to give me  some options. I cut them all out using the coordinating dies from Peony Dies. I only ended up using 3 of the leaves and kept the others to use later on.

Last bit of stamping was the sentiment, which I did on the whisper white cardstock, cut out using a die from the Ornate layers set. I stamped the sentiment in Pear Pizzazz and positioned it towards the right hand side to allow space for my peony later on.

Now, the fun bit is actually assembling all the pieces together. I did end up popping the sentiment piece on dimensionals, given how simple this card is just to give it some interest.

Now did you guess which picture from the catalogue inspired this card? Hopefully, you didn't flip through the whole catalogue as its right near the start on page 19. It looks same, same but different right? 😊

The catalogue one uses the Tasteful Touches stamps set which I don't have but I thought the peony was a great substitute for me to use what I already have.

I hope you enjoyed this post and I know I will certainly be taking heaps more inspiration from the catalogue.

If you interested in any of the items from my blog, please email me atomal288@gmail.com and I would be happy to help out.

Happy cardmaking!
